Lots of cats looking for furrever homes!

The City of Bowie Animal Control Officers received a call from a concerned neighbor on October 31. A family who lived near them had moved out and left their 6 month old kitten by herself – sitting on a pile of garbage at the end of their driveway. Instead of being fearful and running away, this sweet kitten stayed near the discarded furniture and familiy's belongings, hoping her family would return for her. Animals often find comfort in familiar scents, and no doubt, the pile of furniture and garbage she was staying near had the familiar scent of her home and family. Animal Control reached out to Bowie CLAW and Trapper Paul went to the house where the kitten was. With the help of the concerned neighbor, he was able to put the kitten in a travel carrier and brought her to the Holding Room/Kennels. Volunteers named this adorable, girl kitty "FIDGET" becasue she was so busy and full of non-stop energy! She wanted love and pets from the moment she arrived in the kennels. Fidget received a "clean bill-of-health" from the vet, so she was taken to the CLAW Adoption Event on Saturday, November 8 atvthe Waugh Chapel PetCo. Warning…HAPPY ENDING! Of course, Fidget "shined" at this adopton event and was quickly scooped up and adopted by a loving family! Thankfully, she had a very brief stay in the kennels! A few days after her adoption, the family reached out to our Adoption Coordinator, Mickie, to share photos and a message that read, "'I just want to let you know that the whole family is in love with her. She's very friendly and gives all of us love. She does have a lot of kitten energy but she is getting a lot of attention from all of us.'" Bowie CLAW wishes that Fidget’s "fairytale" ending was the same for all of our cats and kittens – so many need their "FORVER HOME".
